MARULA HILL

A getaway idea

A pool of your own

Midday in the bush belongs to the lazy hours: game drive done, lunch finished, the heat settling in. This is where a plunge pool on your own deck earns its keep. Every lodge here has a private pool in at least some of its rooms, and the filters show which. Today's South African resident rates sit alongside.

Rates are per person per night sharing unless shown as a whole villa price per night. Rates exclude park and conservation fees unless stated, and every rate is subject to availability when you book.

Plunge pool questions

Are the plunge pools heated?

Some are and some are not. Where a lodge heats its pools we say so on the card, and those are the ones to choose for a June or July stay. Unheated pools are at their best from October to April, when the afternoons are hot.

Does every room at the lodge have a pool?

Use the filters. "At every suite" means whichever room you book, the pool comes with it. "In selected suites" means only certain room types have one, so tell us and we will make sure your booking is for one of those rooms.

Are plunge pools safe for children?

Private plunge pools are seldom fenced, so many lodges restrict younger children or ask that they are supervised at all times. Each lodge has its own rules on ages, and we will check them for your family before you book.

Is it a pool you can swim in?

Usually not for lengths. A plunge pool is built for cooling off and lazing, typically a few metres long. Some of the private villas have larger pools.

Can I get a plunge pool on a resident special?

Often, yes. The rates shown here are the current South African resident specials for each lodge. Some specials apply to particular room types only, so ask us and we will match the rate to a room with a pool.
