The diverse habitats of the south-eastern Okavango support a wealth of wildlife, earning the area’s well-deserved reputation as a top Botswana safari destination.

Wilderness Qorokwe has nine tented suites, one of which is a spacious family unit with a private plunge pool. En-suite facilities feature an indoor shower with an inward opening door giving the illusion of an outdoor shower experience. Built on elevated wooden platforms, the main area includes a dining room, lounge, library, bar and an infinity pool overlooking an expansive lagoon. About the Wilderness Qorokwe

Highlights

  • Qorokwe borders the renowned Moremi Game Reserve, known for its prolific wildlife; its productive animal sightings are due to its mix of habitat types that lie between its western and eastern borders: the Santantadibe and Gomoti channels respectively.
  • Spectacularly positioned land-based camp fed by two permanent rivers invites year-round safari adventures.
  • A predator stronghold, expect thrilling encounters with lions, cheetahs, leopards and other iconic animals.

Destination: Wilderness Qorokwe is one of Botswana’s greatest wildlife-viewing destinations. The exclusive area covers over 26,180-hectares (over 64,692-acres) and borders the Moremi Game Reserve, an area of rich diversity. The name Qorokwe means 'the place where the buffalo broke through the bush into the water’. A fitting name for a camp nestled between two permanent rivers, the Santantadibe and Gomoti channels, frequented by impressive herds of  buffalo.

Experience: Untamed and unfenced, guests can choose from a wonderful selection of activities. From serene mokoro rides on traditional dugout canoes exploring the channels, watching elephants drinking in the distance, to unforgettable nature walks with our knowledgeable and passionate wildlife guides. Surpise-and-delight moments are also on offer, such as our signature picnics in the bush, and Champagne sundowner stops on a boating safari.

At night, guests can sharpen their senses on adrenaline-pumping game drives, tracking predator-prey action. Then share a feast of culinary delights and stories around a crackling fire.

Purpose: The camp plays an important role in the empowerment of local communities through job creation and other income-generating opportunities. With its community-held concession lease, Qorokwe’s staff are employed largely from within the community. The camp runs on 100% solar-generated power.

Wildlife: What makes Qorokwe so special is the richness of its various biomes. From scattered acacia woodlands – home to herds of giraffe, zebra and various plains game – to pristine floodplains, where curious red lechwe, and mud-encrusted buffalo bulls are often seen in the shallow river channels.  Elephant herds are regular visitors in this classic Okavango Delta setting, as are iconic African predators: lions, cheetahs, leopards, spotted hyena and wild dogs.

Wilderness Qorokwe: The camp is a compelling and striking contrast of eco-chic styling within a classic Okavango Delta setting. Its nine elegant tents (including one very spacious family unit with a private plunge pool) invite guests to move easily from its modern interiors to the natural, airy exteriors.

The spacious and elegant main area and tents overlook a quintessential Delta lagoon, and are well-shaded and positioned to catch the prevailing breeze. Elevated walkways offer guests spectacular views of the wilderness and the wildlife, which can be seen moving freely through the camp. A focal point of the camp is the infinity pool, which is the perfect spot from which to enjoy a refreshing dip while soaking in the view.
